Photos from Second Day of Keeneland Fall 2010 Season

Keeneland staged its first-ever Arabian race – the President of United Arab Emirates Cup-G1, featuring the undefeated filly Sand Witchh, who was 9-for-9 going in:

But she lost to the colt Grilla (below), who left her floundering 1½ lengths behind yet still nearly 11 lengths in front of the third-place horse. Arabians are not as fast as Thoroughbreds – the 10 furlongs were covered in 2:15.42.

The trifecta in the Thoroughbred Club of America Stakes-G1:

Dubai Majesty, 1st.

Old Time Religion, who paid $48.60 to place.

Champion Informed Decision, 3rd.
And the trifecta in the Abu Dhabi First Lady Stakes-G1:

Winner Proviso getting her legs stretched by trainer Bill Mott.

C. S. Silk, 2nd.

Gotta Have Her, 3rd.
Two-year-old colt J. B.’s Thunder, impressive winner of the Dixiana Breeders’ Futurity-G1 for trainer Al Stall Jr.:

Here are some photos I posted in early September of J. B. at the barn:

Reigning older male and turf male champ Gio Ponti added a second G1 to his 2010 CV by capturing the Shadwell Turf Mile. The shadows of the late afternoon made for nearly impossible picture-taking.
