Keeneland staged its first-ever Arabian race – the President of United Arab Emirates Cup-G1, featuring the undefeated filly Sand Witchh, who was 9-for-9 going in:
But she lost to the colt Grilla (below), who left her floundering 1½ lengths behind yet still nearly 11 lengths in front of the third-place horse. Arabians are not as fast as Thoroughbreds – the 10 furlongs were covered in 2:15.42.
